Tomball, Texas

In Tomball, Cypress Critters & Pests takes raccoons, rats, mice, squirrels and snakes off homes and businesses, then seals every opening the animal used so the next one cannot follow it in. Michael Gerbino does the inspection, the live trapping, the sealing and the repair himself, from the older houses near downtown out to the newer streets and acreage at the edge of town. Call Michael at 713-775-8799 and he will come see how they are getting in.

Michael’s main work in Tomball is animal exclusion in Tomball: getting raccoons, squirrels, rats and other animals out of the attic, walls and crawl space alive, then sealing the roofline, vents and foundation with metal so they cannot get back in. The full write-up of how it is done is on the animal exclusion in Spring, TX page. Call 713-775-8799 to have the house checked.

Why do animals get into Tomball houses so easily?

Tomball is an incorporated city in northwest Harris County, where SH-249 crosses FM-2920. It has an older downtown with historic houses, and newer subdivisions and acreage all around it. Those two kinds of houses let animals in for different reasons.

An older house near downtown rarely has one big hole. Wood shrinks, trim pulls loose, and the screens behind old vents wear thin, so it ends up with a dozen small openings. A rat or a squirrel only needs one of them.

A newer house is tight in most places but can still have a gap the builder left at a soffit corner or where the AC lines go through the wall. When it backs up to pasture or open land, the animals living out there are a short walk from the back fence.

Part of the house Older house near downtown Newer house backing to open land
Roof edge Fascia boards pulled away from aging roof decking Open seams at soffit returns, where two roof lines meet
Vents Worn or rusted screens behind gable vents Plastic roof vents and thin factory screens
Low on the walls Gaps around old pipes, wiring and worn siding The AC line chase and the garage door corners
Yard Tree limbs over the roof, where the yard has grown up around the house A back fence facing pasture, with tall grass on the far side

What does Michael get called for most in Tomball?

  • Raccoons. Heavy steps over the ceiling after dark, a torn soffit, or chattering young in a chimney. They come in from open land and work their way up to the roof. More on raccoon removal in Tomball.
  • Rats and mice. Quick scratching at night and droppings in the garage or pantry. Older houses give them plenty of small doors, and feed stored on acreage gives them a reason to stay close. More on rat and mouse control in Tomball.
  • Squirrels. Running in the attic in the morning and late afternoon, and chewed corners on the fascia. A tree beside the house is their bridge to the roof. More on squirrel removal in Tomball.
  • Snakes. Found in garages, sheds, flower beds and along back fences that face pasture. Michael removes the snake and looks for what drew it there. More on snake removal in Tomball.

Why is exclusion the answer for a Tomball house?

Trapping an animal empties the attic for a while. It does nothing about the gap the animal came through, and in a town with open land on every side another one is never far away. Exclusion means finding every opening on the house and closing it with metal flashing, hardware cloth and sturdy vent covers that animals cannot chew or pull apart. Michael explains the whole method on the animal exclusion and live trapping page, and how it plays out on local houses is on the animal exclusion in Tomball page. On an older home it usually means many small repairs along the roof edge. On a newer one it is often a few builder gaps and a close look at the side facing open land.

Questions people ask about wildlife work in Tomball

Does Michael work on the older homes near downtown Tomball?

Yes, and older homes are a big part of the work in Tomball. Aging wood, loose trim and worn vent screens leave many small openings, so Michael checks the whole roof edge and the bottom of the walls, not only the spot where an animal was seen. Where the wood is too soft to hold a fastener, he repairs it before he seals it.

My Tomball house backs up to pasture. Will that bring animals in?

Open land next door means more raccoons, rats, snakes and opossums close to your fence, but it does not mean they have to get inside. What lets them in is an opening on the house. Michael seals those openings, points out the tall grass, stored feed and woodpiles that draw animals closer, and closes off the space under sheds and decks.

Who actually comes out to the house when I call?

Michael Gerbino does. He owns Cypress Critters and Pests and does the inspection and the work himself, so the person who walks your roofline is the same person who sets the traps, seals the openings and makes the repairs. If you have a question halfway through the job, you are asking the one who is doing it.

Can one inspection find every way an animal gets in?

That is the point of it. Michael walks the roofline, looks inside the attic, and checks the vents, pipe openings, AC line chase, garage door corners and foundation. He looks for droppings, rub marks and chewed edges that show which openings are in use now and which ones could be used next. Then he tells you plainly what he found.
