Klein, Texas

Cypress Critters & Pests takes care of animal problems in Klein: raccoons and squirrels in the attic, roof rats in the walls, snakes in the garage, and the gaps that let all of them in. Michael Gerbino does the inspection and the work himself. He catches animals alive in cage traps, seals the house so the next one cannot follow, and repairs what they tore up. Call Michael at 713-775-8799 to have a Klein house looked at.

What kind of place is Klein for wildlife?

Klein is an unincorporated community in northwest Harris County, sitting between Spring and Cypress. It takes its name from the Klein family, and most people here know it through Klein ISD and the stretch along FM-1960 and the Champion Forest corridor. It is not a city. It is a set of neighborhoods, and a lot of them are wooded and well established.

That is the reason Michael gets called out here. Big trees grow over the roofs, so a squirrel or a raccoon can walk a limb straight onto the shingles. And the houses have stood long enough that the original soffits, gable vent screens and roof edges have weathered. Wood that has softened and screen that has rusted are exactly what a raccoon pulls open and a squirrel chews through.

What does Michael get called for most in Klein?

  • Raccoons in the attic. Heavy thumping after dark and a torn soffit corner. Michael covers what he does on these houses on the Klein raccoon removal page.
  • Squirrels on the roofline. Running overhead in the morning and late afternoon, and a round chewed hole at the roof edge. See squirrel removal in Klein.
  • Roof rats and mice. Scratching at night, droppings along the attic floor and in the garage. See rat and mouse control in Klein.
  • Snakes. Usually in a garage, a flower bed or near the pool pump, and usually because rodents are nearby. See snake removal in Klein.

Animals that live low, under a deck or a shed, are more often opossums or skunks. Michael handles those too; the details are on the opossum and skunk pages.

Why is exclusion the answer for Klein houses?

On an older wooded lot, the animals never run out. Take one raccoon or three squirrels off a Klein roof, leave the hole, and the next ones find it by smell within weeks. Trapping alone only resets the clock. Exclusion is what stops it: Michael finds every opening on the house, gets the animals out alive, then closes each gap with metal and heavy mesh they cannot chew or pull apart. The full method is laid out on the animal exclusion and live trapping page, and the Klein side of it is on animal exclusion in Klein.

Klein shares a lot with its neighbors. Spring is Michael’s home base and has the same creek-side trees over the roofs. Cypress mixes new subdivisions with older acreage next to the woods. Tomball has an older downtown with newer neighborhoods around it. Every town Michael covers is listed under areas served, and you can reach him through the contact page or by phone at 713-775-8799.

Questions people ask about animal problems in Klein

Does Michael come out to Klein for attic animals?

Yes. Klein is one of the six towns Michael serves, along with Spring, Cypress, Tomball, The Woodlands and Houston. He does the inspection on the roof and in the attic himself, explains in plain words what he found, and then does the trapping, sealing and repair work on that same house, start to finish.

Why do older Klein houses get so many animals in the attic?

Two reasons. The trees in established Klein neighborhoods hang over the roofs and give animals a bridge to the shingles. And the original soffits, vent screens and fascia boards have weathered over the years, so they open up at the seams. A raccoon, squirrel or roof rat only needs one of those weak spots, and older houses tend to have several.

What should I do tonight if something is in my Klein attic?

Stay out of the attic and keep pets and children away from any opening. Note what time the noise starts and whether it sounds heavy or light, because that tells Michael a lot about the animal. Do not block the hole yourself, since an animal shut inside will tear its way out somewhere else. Then call Michael and describe what you are hearing.

Can he handle an animal under the deck instead of the roof?

Yes. Opossums and skunks like the dry, shaded space under decks, sheds and porches. Michael catches them alive in cage traps, then closes off the space with mesh buried along the edge so nothing can dig back under. The same visit can cover the roofline if he sees openings there too.
