Spring, Texas
Spring is home ground for Cypress Critters & Pests. Michael Gerbino is based in Spring and handles animal exclusion and humane live trapping across the town himself: he finds how raccoons, squirrels, rats or snakes are getting into a house, catches them alive, seals every opening and repairs what they damaged. If something is living in your attic, walls or garage anywhere in Spring, call Michael at 713-775-8799.
Why do so many Spring houses end up with animals in the attic?
Spring sits along I-45 north of Houston and spreads across two counties, Harris to the south and Montgomery to the north, with Spring Creek running between them. The creek and its greenway give raccoons, opossums and snakes a long, sheltered strip to live and travel in, and the neighborhoods that back up to it see those animals in yards and garages more than most.
Away from the creek, many Spring streets have mature trees with limbs that hang over the roofs. A limb over a roof is a bridge. An animal that crosses it lands right at the soffits, fascia boards and vents where most attic entries begin. Older buildings add openings of their own. Around Old Town Spring, the town’s earliest district, the eaves, trim and crawl spaces have had a long time to loosen. Newer houses start out tighter, but the same gaps appear as the wood settles and the roof weathers.
What does Michael get called for most in Spring?
Most Spring calls come down to a handful of animals. Each one has its own Spring page with what Michael runs into here and how he deals with it.
| Animal | Where it usually turns up in Spring | Spring page |
|---|---|---|
| Raccoons | Attics and chimney flues, getting in from overhanging limbs and torn soffits | Raccoon removal in Spring |
| Squirrels | Gable vents and fascia boards under tall trees, noisy during daylight | Squirrel removal in Spring |
| Roof rats and mice | Attics after dark, plus garages and pantries, traveling fence tops and tree limbs | Rat and mouse control in Spring |
| Snakes | Garages, flower beds and yards near the creek, often hunting rodents | Snake removal in Spring |
| Opossums | Under decks, sheds and porches | Opossum removal in Spring |
When nobody knows yet what the animal is, the starting point is the same for every house: an inspection from the roof ridge down to the foundation, outside and in the attic.
Why is exclusion the answer for a Spring house?
In a town with this much creek and tree cover, there is always another animal close by. Catching the one in the attic only clears the space for the next raccoon or squirrel, which follows the scent of the old den to the same hole. The lasting fix is to close the house: find every opening, get the animals out alive, and seal each gap with metal and hardware cloth that teeth and claws cannot open. That whole method is laid out on the animal exclusion and live trapping page, and the Spring side of it is on animal exclusion in Spring. Raccoons, skunks and other animals Michael catches are removed alive and handled following Texas rules.

Questions people ask about wildlife removal in Spring
Does Michael work in every part of Spring?
Yes. Michael is based in Spring and works neighborhoods on both the Harris County and Montgomery County sides of Spring Creek, from the older streets around Old Town Spring to the newer subdivisions. Call and tell him where the house is and what you are hearing or seeing, and he will set a time to inspect it himself.
Why do homes near Spring Creek get more raccoons and snakes?
The creek and the greenway along it are a long strip of cover with water and food, and raccoons, opossums and snakes live and move along it. Houses that back up to the creek or its trails are the first ones those animals reach. Sealing the roofline and closing off the space under decks and sheds matters most on those lots.
What does a wildlife inspection on my house cover?
Michael walks the whole outside of the house, including the roof edge, soffits, gable and roof vents, chimney, A/C line chase, garage door corners and foundation. Then he goes into the attic to look for droppings, nests, chewed wiring and travel paths. Afterward he explains in plain words which animal it is, where it gets in and what has to be sealed.
How does Michael decide what the job will take?
He decides after the inspection, not over the phone. The number of openings, how high they sit, whether young animals are inside, how many vents need metal covers and how much soffit, fascia and insulation needs repair all shape the job. He tells the homeowner what he found and what he recommends before any work starts.
Around Spring: Places Our Customers Know
We work all over Spring, from the historic district to the newest neighborhoods off the Grand Parkway.
Old Town Spring and the Spring Historical Museum
Old Town Spring is the town’s earliest district, a few blocks of shops in old Victorian buildings. The Spring Historical Museum sits right there at 403 Main Street. Older homes and shops like these have attics, crawl spaces and gaps under the eaves, which is exactly where raccoons, squirrels and rats look for a way in.
Spring Creek Greenway
Spring Creek is the line between Harris and Montgomery counties, and the Greenway follows it for miles, from Tomball east toward Kingwood. Creek corridors like this are home to raccoons, opossums and snakes, so the neighborhoods that back up to the creek and its trails see them in yards, garages and attics more than most.
Mercer Botanic Gardens
Mercer Botanic Gardens, at 22306 Aldine Westfield Road, is about 180 acres of gardens and woods on the east side of Spring. The homes around it share the same wooded edges, and the same wildlife.
Six Flags Hurricane Harbor Splashtown
Most families in Spring know the Splashtown water park. The busy neighborhoods around it get the full range of calls we answer: roof rats, roaches and ants inside, and raccoons and opossums outside.
City Place
City Place, the master-planned community that used to be called Springwoods Village, is home to the ExxonMobil campus and new homes and apartments. New construction still gets visitors from the woods it replaced, and we help both homeowners and businesses there.
